This week the team focused entirely on the LP1, making good progress across the pedals, gearbox, and engine.

The pedal assembly has been restored and primed to protect it from rusting until we can get the correct colour paint produced.
The gear change linkage was stripped, cleaned, and reassembled, then tested on the bench to make sure everything works as it should.
Alex sandblasted the gearbox casing and cleaned any rust off the gears. He’s now waiting on bearings to replace the worn and rusted originals.
Meanwhile, Martin tackled the head studs on the engine. The ends of these studs sit in the water jacket, where they rust badly over time. Some snapped off during removal and had to be drilled out – a painstaking job. The block is now being sent to a specialist for cleaning.
OTHER UPDATES
The Sturmgeschütz III radiator is with a local specialist, but this work will take some time. We’re still waiting to hear back on the Sd.Kfz.223 dynamo.
RESEARCH UPDATE
We continue to release new information from our Jagdpanther research. This week we shared findings on production numbers, uncovered while researching the provenance of our own vehicle.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week we’ll continue work on the LP1.
