A productive week with final preparations for Tankfest 2026, progress across multiple vehicles, and an exciting new step for the Foundation’s YouTube channel.
CRANBROOK MEMORIAL HOWITZER
Over the weekend, members of the team helped move the 10.5 cm leichte Feldhaubitze 98/09 from the Cranbrook memorial. The howitzer is being delivered to our workshop this week and will be a future restoration project on loan to the Foundation.
This is a project for the local community. Once the restoration is complete, the howitzer will return to its rightful place at the memorial. We look forward to sharing more about the work and the howitzer’s history in due course.
SD.KFZ.222 AUSF.A 4.SERIE
The replacement fuel pump diaphragm has arrived. Alex is back from college next week and will refit the fuel pump to the engine, and we’ll have it running again.
AUSTRALIAN LP1 MG CARRIER
We’ve finished one of the two fuel tanks and restored both of the original fuel tank brackets. The next step is to reproduce a second set of brackets for the other tank, copied from the originals.
THE WHEATCROFT COLLECTION SD.KFZ.223
We’ve identified the issue from the recent test drive: a faulty bearing was the culprit. It has now been replaced, and we expect the vehicle to be back up and running after Tankfest.
TANKFEST 2026 PREPARATIONS
In preparation for Tankfest next week, we swapped the Jagdpanther and Sturmgeschütz III around in the Collection Hall to make access easier.
The team also took the opportunity to start filming the first of a series of videos for the Foundation’s YouTube channel. This first video focuses on how to drive the Sturmgeschütz III. We have plans to produce regular content over the coming months as we relaunch our YouTube channel.
LOOKING AHEAD
Next week is all about Tankfest 2026 – we look forward to seeing many of our members at the show. As ever, please come and find us at the Sturmgeschütz III for a chat.
