Workshop Dispatch – 12–16 January 2026

It has been a solid week in the workshop, with a good mix of maintenance, careful adjustment work, and a couple of satisfying jobs brought over the line. As always, it is a combination of the big visible items and the smaller details that keeps these vehicles moving forward, and the team has made good progress across three key projects.

Weald Foundation Sd.Kfz.222 Ausf.A (4. Serie)

We brought the Sd.Kfz.222 into the workshop for maintenance, giving us the chance to work through a few important running-related items while it was in and accessible. The vehicle was tuned by changing jet sizes, and the cold start bimetallic strip system was adjusted. These are the kinds of jobs where small changes can have a meaningful impact, so it was good to get the time on it and make those adjustments properly.

We also began investigating a no-charging issue. This is still in the investigation stage, and the priority is to understand exactly what is causing the problem before anything else. We will keep working through it and share an update once we have a clear conclusion.

The Wheatcroft Collection Sd.Kfz.223

On the Wheatcroft Collection Sd.Kfz.223, the aerial has now been finished, which is a great step to tick off. The work included pinning the poles, welding the frame, and painting everything in the correct colour. It is a job with several stages, and it is always satisfying to see it completed and ready.

Alex also finished machining M10 armoured bolts for turret visitors. This is precise work that takes time to do correctly, and it is another example of the detail that sits behind the scenes but makes a real difference to how everything comes together.

Weald Foundation Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf.A (3. Serie)

Our Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf.A (3. Serie) was brought into the workshop ready for a clutch change. This was primarily about getting it in and set up so the team can get started promptly. The clutch change itself is due to begin next week, and we will report back as that work progresses.

Looking ahead

Next week, the focus will be starting the clutch change on the Weald Foundation Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf.A (3. Serie), while continuing the investigation into the Sd.Kfz.222’s charging issue. We will share further updates as we move from investigation and preparation into confirmed outcomes and completed work.
