Vital progress on TWC Sd.Kfz.223. More Black Sea StuG research..

The team have been very active this week after a well deserved break over Christmas and New Year. Their main focus this week has been on making progress on the front fenders of the TWC Sd.Kfz.223. The left hand example is now complete. This work will continue later on this month as time allows. The very detailed snow chain locker and rolled edge construction means that these cannot be completed quickly.

The research into our Black Sea StuG has continued this week. Our most recent breakthrough is the captain’s report from the war diary of the Santa Fe which was transporting our StuG and a number of others to the Crimea in November 1943 when she was sunk. We are planning a series of reports on this event and specifics regarding the design and detail of this very rare MIAG assembled StuG. We will be publishing one a week so as not to exhaust our members. See this week’s Inside Track for the first of these articles – the Captain’s recorded war diary of the Santa Fe for the sinking.

Some very delayed radio components for our own Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie arrived this week . There are yet more items to collect in Europe which will follow in the next few months.

Our Open Day 2024 is building well. Bookings over the Christmas period were healthy. We will be setting in place a group of changes here at the Foundation in readiness for the Open Day 2024 on June 22 this year. Have a great weekend..
