Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie suppression, engine block, wiring loom and information plaques

Our 3.5 Horch V8 litre block has been white metalled as required. The block bores have been honed and is in the final stages of assembling the conrods, pistons and crankshaft. We will continue on with the block assembly next week.

The Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie ignition coils have been tested (see main image), the ballast resistors and suppression related kit is now ready for fitting to the special 3.Serie related frame which carries these parts just in front of the radiator and fan. The frame for the TWC Sd.Kfz.223 which is an updated 4.Serie fitting has been fabricated and is awaiting blasting and priming. The research into the differences for our Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie reference the Halter frame has been published in this week’s Inside Track piece – Sd.Kfz.223 (Ausf.A) 3.Serie – Entstörung Layout and Halter.

Our wiring loom is nigh complete now for the armoured car. This is a very detailed process utilising research from surviving le.Pz.Sp.Wg. and the many archive documents we have to hand. For the detail and images please refer to this week’s Inside Track piece – Sd.Kfz.223 (Ausf.A) 3.Serie Wiring – The Loom Detail

The artwork for the plaques specific to the interior of the Sd.Kfz.223 is nearing completion. Once complete these images will be sent to our counterpart for acid etching. The plates will be ready for fitting internally once the vehicle is fully painted.

Have a good Easter!!
