The long awaited end of the floor saga for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie is over as the final two forward parts of the floor were fitted within the driver’s area. The floor sections have been drilled to allow the flat headed countersunk screws to fix them to the various vertical and horizontal floor supports.
The Antennenzubehörkasten or Antenna Accessories Box for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie has been saved from the scrap heap. This whole process has been recorded and will include archive coverage of the Antennenzubehörkasten describing the box, its contents and purpose in an Inside Track article to follow. We will also attempt to plot the differences in the box over time from the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie to its ultimate form within the Sd.Kfz.223 5.Serie in the same article.
The fittings for the antenna frame itself have been successfully machined for the Foundations Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie. This will allow us to progress on to the antenna frame itself next.
Alongside this work on the spark plugs and compression testing for Jagdpanther 411 continues. The plugs are now set to the regulation clearance of May 1944. Idling and starting is now magnificent as a result.
