The work remaining on the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie armoured car is limited. The vast majority of the remaining project tasks have now been dealt with. What we are now waiting for is the completion of the electrical vehicle wiring and the plaques for the instrument panel and chassis to be actioned. Brow pads are now ready to be fitted – hopefully by the end of the day!!
Plans are in the round to recover the Australian LP1 tracked carrier from ours stores and set in place in the weeks to come. The completed Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie armoured car will be moved to where the Sd.Kfz.223s are currently. It will remain there until the final climate control adjustments are in place in its final accommodation – heater, dehumidifier and draft elimination (delivered this week). Members will be shown the new facility during the year.
Much research has been ongoing regarding the externally mounted fire extinguishers on the Ausf.A le.Pz.Sp.Wg. The results of this will be posted in a forthcoming Inside Track journal entry in the near future. Additional research has been conducted into the foot plates used in both the Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie and Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie. The results of this will also be published in an article being drafted for Inside Track.
Our various radio strap fittings have been gathered to begin the careful process of building a number of these required for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie project. These required years to pull together. The attached image shows the condition of some of them – others are better but will look good once cleaned up.
