Sd.Kfz 222 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz 223 3 Serie, Sd.Kfz 261 5 Serie, South African Reconnaissance Car Marmon Herrington MKIII, Indian (New Zealand) Pattern Carrier

More progress on the 3 German armoured car chassis. Machining is nearly complete on the angled steering unit. We have identified the correct Winker semaphors/trafficators required for all three armoured cars – the Sd.Kfz 223, Sd.Kfz 222 and the Sd.Kfz 261. Much of what is required is now in hand but some components will take some time to locate. This will be published in Inside track as soon as the items are in hand.

A comprehensive search of our radio components has been undertaken allowing the search for outstanding items to be fine tuned. Ignition coils, distributors have been gathered over the years. We now have 7 of one particularly rare type which will not be required at all given the research that has been going on in parallel in our archives.

The next large search will be through our main storage area to see what we uncover there that is required for this armoured car project.

Examination of the tyres required for our SARC Marmon Herrington MK III has uncovered exactly what tyres and markings are required for replacement tyres. The size is no longer available so we will explore the manufacture of new examples as replacements.

We have enough original tyres for the New Zealand pattern carrier project. These are original. Good news. have a good weekend and keep safe.
