Horch 3.5 litre V8 nearing completion, le.Pz.Sp.Wg. silencers, HLF visit

The exciting Horch 3.5 litre V8 engine project for our Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie is proceeding very well. The time scale to completion is not very long now – a few weeks. We are still awaiting gaskets which were ordered a short while back.

The remaining headlamps for the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie and Sd.Kfz.261 5.Serie have been delivered from our specialist provider. These will allow us to complete the original, special, parabolic Riemann bodies by fitting the reflectors and bezels (see lead image). These will then be primed and painted next week allowing for the final fitting of the Riemann lenses.

The silencers are underway. The internal walling segments have been formed. The baffles will be next. The covers will then be curved over these resulting in the exact dimensions recorded from original examples.

We hosted a visit from charitable organisations yesterday courtesy of the Heritage Lottery Fund. After a detailed lecture, an in depth workshop visit hosted by all of the individual team members, and finally a tour of the working collection brought the event to a close. We hope everyone found the visit information and enjoyable.
