Horch 3.5 litre V8 maiden run, fitted to chassis

The Horch 3.5 litre V8 was set up this week and finally started. After a number of small adjustments to the fuel pump and the starter motor the V8 is now running smoothly and has been mounted into the chassis of the Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie.

The radiator has also been fitted to the chassis together with the shroud and fan. More interior components have been refitted. The instrument panel has been fully fitted and is awaiting additional fuses which will arrive on Monday.

The rear brake lights have also been fitted and tested. One of them had to receive a little attention to remove some chrome on a band at the rear of the light. The rear of the armoured body is now awaiting fitting once the small external tasks have been completed on the engine such as the suppression leads and tubes which will be covered in detail in one of next week’s Inside Track articles.
