Sd.Kfz 222 4.Serie, Sd.Kfz 223 4.Serie, Jagdpanther 411, SARC Marmon Herrington Mk.III

The Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie wheels were fitted once the final wheel station was assembled to the rear of the chassis. The missing wheel nuts are currently in focus as they clean up correct original wheel nuts and blast and prime the new examples to make up those that are missing. This totals approximately 2 new per hub. Next week will herald the start of the lubrication pipe crafting for the Willy Vogel lubrication manifold fittings. Once this work is completed we will be shipping the completed chassis from the Fabrication Workshop to the Machining / Final Assembly workshop. The fittings with and without the armoured body will be the next task.

The Sd.Kfz.223. 4 Serie chassis wheels have been removed, masked up and primed. They have subsequently been returned to each wheel station. The reciprocal fitting for one end of the prop shaft that has had post war attention (incorrect) has been checked and will be replaced with an original fitting that matches that of both our Sd.Kfz.222 4.Serie and Sd.Kfz.223 3.Serie.

The second Jagdpanther gearbox has now been fully recorded and mapped. What remains is the gear lever mechanism and the selector forks and linkage. We aim to complete this next week. The task thereafter will be the reassembly of the gearbox.

The SARC Marmon Herrington Mk.III research effort continues. More very interesting detail from the family of Arthur Herrington, the very interesting founder of the Marmon Herrington company and American automotive pioneer which has been written up and published in our Inside Track magazine this week.
