Sd.Kfz 222 4 Serie, Pak 43, Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie

Great progress this week on the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie 3.5 litre Horch V8 engine. Since there has been so much interest in this engine restoration we expect many of you to participate in our events here at the Weald Foundation once Covid 19 is behind us.

The discovery of the Tarnscheinwerfer base on our Sd.Kfz.250 Ausf.B lead to a groundbreaking piece of research on this device. The findings on the Tarnscheinwerfer have been published in this week’s Inside Track – our online magazine for members. Further articles will follow on the other convoy lamps used by German forces in WWII.

The suppression (Entstoert) system for the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie has been established for this armoured car at the point of leaving the assembly line. Our restoration target is set to this particular point in time which makes for an altogether more challenging and difficult project.

We have had a real breakthrough yet again on our Pak 43 project with the discovery and acquisition of a genuine and untouched Pak 43 limber winch. This item will in due course be fitted to the limber as it was in late early 1945.
