The armoured hull for the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222 reassembly continues. We are researching the external fittings for this armoured car and their positioning . All of these results are being posted in Inside Track over time. The visors have all been gathered together that are required for this project. There are a number of small components required for the visor mechanism. These will be sourced in due course. This is the only 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222 in the world so the research and archaeological scrutiny of all of our existing hull fittings is crucial in completing the hull fittings correctly. All of the original internal handles are being fitted after repair to them. Most of them have been disfigured over time. Drawings followed the research into the eyelets for the tarpaulin covers for the 4 serie.Sd.Kfz.222 and 223. This is covered in this week’s Inside Track.
We focussed on the oil cooler for the 3 Ausf.A armoured cars using our original example. Drawings have been drafted and the components will be made here in due course. The fan and oil cooler mount has also been drafted in preparation for one to be provided for the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz. 223 and the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223. Various other items such as the dipsticks, valve chamber covers, oil filler necks and caps have all been identified awaiting sourcing.
We are preparing the semaphore winke guards for the Sd.Kfz.222. These are specific to this vehicle,. We have original winke guard sections off another 4 Serie armoured car. Over 20 years of research covered these items. They are currently being scoped and should be ready early next week.
The inner tyre flaps have arrived for the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.223. They will be fitted together with the inner tubes and tyres next week. Have a good weekend everyone.
