Sd.Kfz.223 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie, Renault FT. SARC Marmon Herrington MkIII

Major breakthrough this week with the colours for the SARC Marmon Herrington Mk III . The scientific analysis of the paint comprising 3 Colour Camouflage scheme for our early South African Reconnaissance Car Marmon Herrington Mk III is now in hand. We now have all the 3 Colours Camo scheme colours applied to this armoured car during its assembly all those years ago in 1941.

The missing seal and bearings for the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.223 have arrived. This will allow the completion of the gearbox next week. This will be followed by the external paint conservation exercise given how much of the original paint survived.

The hull for the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie continues to progress with the rear engine deck side hatches and armoured exhaust cowling being fitted. The top engine deck hatch is bowed and will require stress relieving heat treatment at our long standing foundry partners of Renault FT and TSF fame. The conservation work on the Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie chassis continues. The individual performing this time consuming effort requires jump leads on occasion!!

The Renault FT was primed and taken out for a photoshoot with a team of documentary makers today. We have posted a copy of some of this on Facebook today.

Many new breakthroughs on the Antenna bases of the armoured cars and the taps fitted to the Horch 3.5 litre V8 engines of the Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie and Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie. These insights clarifying exactly what these devices are and what they look like are in this week’s Inside Track.

Have a good weekend.
