Sd.Kfz 222 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz 223 3 Serie, Sd.Kfz.261 5 Serie, Horch 108 1a

The full set of taps for the fuel system are underway. We have all of the Mahle 3 way fuel taps. The tops (handles) for these are specific to the armoured cars and have been recorded and drawn. We plan to print the handles required. We have had a major breakthrough this week with the stop cock handle specific again to the armoured cars. These have been drawn in 3D. We have received the proof copy of printing. This will all be covered in an Inside Track piece in due course.

Conservation work continues on the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222. One wheel station is now finished and the focus will now move to another. It is slow work but the final result will be little short of stunning.

More work is being done on the engine for the 3 Serie Sd.Kfz.223. The block for the Sd.Kfz.222 (same engine) is being scanned to reproduce it (see attached image). This work still has a way to go but will ultimately result in the correct engine for our Sd.Kfz.223.

The Sd.Kfz.261 brake system (cable and hydraulic) has been analysed this week. This will allow us to reproduce these afresh to exact standards.

The Wheatcroft Collection chassis has being attended to through the full week. Small cracks in the chassis around the wheel stations (also addressed in our 3 Serie example) are being v’d out and welded up prior to tidying.

The chassis and related parts for the Horch 108 1a has finally left the premises on its way to a new home. The itemising and packing of these items took almost a full day. This will free up vital space for storage of other projects currently in rather ‘in the way’ places.

Have a good weekend.
