Sd.Kfz 222 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz 223 3 Serie, Sd.Kfz 261 5 Serie, G13

Considerable focus has been on the various handbrake levers required for the 3 Serie.Sd.Kfz.223 and the 5 Serie Sd.Kfz 261. The Sd.Kfz.222 example we know is correct given previous research into the topic. The research findings have been posted in this week’s Inside Track.

The wheels have been fitted to the Sd.Kfz 223. The final drive to complete the very detailed lubrication system is nearing completion and the outstanding components that will allow the completion of the project have been secured and will be built in next week.

The 4 Serie.Sd.Kfz.222 rims are under examination at present. We decided to conserve the chassis and rims – thereby exposing the lower wartime paint by removing any post war layers. This is very tedious but fascinating work as the various layers and detail that make up the lower layers on both the reverse and front of the rims will be recorded. The findings will be posted in our weekly online magazine Inside Track when they have been compiled.

All of the components for our Sd.Kfz.261 project have been gathered together in readiness in the display hall for the team’s attention once they have completed the reassembly of the 4 Serie Sd.Kfz.222 hull.

The trunking for the newly installed roller shutter doors has been fitted. The rubber bases for the doors has yet to be fitted. This will leave the cladding and roof company to complete the roof and wall cladding into the door surrounds. The interior of the display hall will be left for completion in time for our first event here at the Weald Foundation in 2021!

The G13 project which was sold almost 6 years ago has finally left our premises yeilding much valuable space for special vehicles such as the New Zealand Pattern Carrier and SARC Marmon Herrington MkIIIs. See main image.
