8,8cm Panzerjägerkanone 43 (L/71) (8,8cm PaK 43), Sd.Kfz.261 Ausf.B

A flurry of activity followed the exposure of the Pak 43 on social media over the past 2 weeks. We have researched the optics required for this magnificent artefact. The research was aided by two individuals. One in particular provided images and very well researched detail. We have subsequently added extensively to this and gathered some of the actual optics and casings for the Pak 43. The Pak 43 parts have yet to be removed from the crate in which they have been stored for nearly 15 years. This is a very exciting project given the rarity of the object and the technical proficiency it represents for that time of the war.

The dashboard for the Sd.Kfz 261 has also been under the spotlight. Most of the original parts for the dashboard are now in hand – gauges and electrical fittings. Many have been gathered over the course of this week with one benefit of the lock down. The correct and original Semophores for this vehicle have been secured. Handbooks from the period have also been secured throwing more light and detail (pictures). These are critical in providing all the required minutiae information on lubrication, electrics, wiring etc.

A breakthrough in understanding suppression over the various marques of le.Pz.Sp.Wg is now behind us. The effort normally expended in the workshop has been devoted instead to procuring the rare and original parts required for the armoured cars and is now branching out to include the Pak 43, SARC Marmon Herrington MK III and Einheitsdiesel!!
