Sd.Kfz.222 4 Serie, Sd.Kfz.223 3 Serie, Sd.Kfz.261 5 Serie, SARC Marmon Herrington Mk III

Our research team continue to plough through mountains of archive documentation and numerous period images to fine tune the next phases of our projects here on the 3 German armoured cars – the Sd.Kfz.223, Sd.Kfz 222 and Sd.Kfz.261. The required tyres and tyre patterns were resolved just before the lock down and the necessary 5 Serie rims for the Sd.Kfz.261 have finally been sorted out this week. These will have to be blasted and primed once we all return to normality. The various taps for the fuel system have been sourced and are either here or on their way to us. The quantities required for the 3 armoured cars is quite intimidating and has taken quite an effort to gather. Dashboard fittings are now in focus. We have identified the small components required for a 3 Serie, 4 Serie and a 5 Serie le.Pz.Sp.Wg. We have most of these in our stores already and the outliers are being hunted down. The steering wheels are back with us. We have been gathering many manuals for the period providing a detailed insight into the many electrical fittings, the lighting, the lubrication detail behind the part numbers. This has helped us to fine tune our hunt for the components and has lead to some awesome successes over the past 2 weeks.

The SARC Marmon Herrington MkIII projects have been in the spotlight identifying the tyre sizes required as discussed in last week’s Workshop Blog. This week has seen a focus on the armoured body and sourcing the missing sections in readiness for when these two come into focus after the 3 Le.Pz.Sp.Wg are finished as a project and leave the workshops.

Parts identification on the Pak 43 continues. A crate containing Pak 43 parts has been identified which will have to be emptied to identify all the parts we have here for the project. We already have quite a complete set of large parts but the smaller items are all in the crate.

Keep safe!!
