Lots of detail work going on in the workshop this week. We have been making towing pins for the Renault FT. The images show a before and after casting and an original pin. We’ve been doing extensive research on the instrument panel in the Sd.Kfz 222 and Sd.Kfz 223 Ausf A. Check out this week’s Inside Track for the full story. We have drawn the rear axles for the FT and TSF and will be sending it out for machining next week. The chain assemblies have now been completed for the pins and the pin retainers. We are short of two shackles and these will be produced using the originals as a pattern.
The first major group of patterns were delivered to the steel foundry today for casting 75% of the suspension components for the FT and TSF. All that remains is for the return rollers and bogie wheels to be cast for all the suspension casting to be complete. In the meantime we are starting our planning for machining work when the newly cast components are returned to us.
