The team have now successfully stripped the fahrgestell and are now considering the path required to repair or replace the poor or missing parts. The parts immediately obvious as missing are the large lower wishbones querlenker unterer linker und rechter on both the left and right hand side. Referring to the Ersatzteilliste there is no distinction made between the front and rear querlenker unterer only between left and right. This is made clear through the part number for the left hand example 2-55 313 or 3-55 313 with the right hand side being 2-55 314 or 3-55 314. Both are prescribed for those fahrgestell mit Zentralschmierung (with central lubrication). From the images attached of our querlenker unterer linker und rechter it is clear the fahrgestell was originally fitted with zentralschmierung. What remains of the zentralschmierung is unfortunately not reusable. The missing querlenkerunterer can be fashioned from the surviving 2 rear examples. This will be fairly straight forward but will only be undertaken if we are unable to source an original left and right example. Our experience gained from over twenty years gathering parts for these armoured cars (including the earlier Ausf A) does not bode well for the location of originals but you never know…. The condition of the surviving querlenker unterer from the rear of the chassis and the full set of querlenker oberer from both the front and back of the chassis require attention. The attention required is for the bearing retainer at the end of the wishbone. The machined grooves seen at the outer end of the wishbone (left and right) have clearly suffered badly from corrosion. The grooves can be compared to the end caps we sourced for these upper and lower wishbones. This will be addressed in due course. The other issue clearly seen on these querlenker wishbones are the zentralschmierung verteiler – the small cast greasing hub – or what remains of it. We have already sourced the majority of these verteiler hubs but some are proving tricky to find. The parts list is very specific as to the capacity of each of the chambers. Sourcing these from other vehicles and finding those hubs that look the same to later discover they are quite different. We will cover these components in more detail once we have gathered all of those in our archive together for comparison and to hopefully recover the full complement of what we require.
