The Foundation has two Sd.Kfz.223 chassis. Both are the earlier designated Typ 801, which would have been assembled as Ausf. A 3rd Serie 223s. We intend to restore only one of the Ausf. A vehicles as the chassis selected is complete with engine and gearbox. The other Sd.Kfz 223 A chassis, complete with everything save for a gearbox will not be restored. The Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf. B chassis will take a lot more work to rectify as it is missing a number of parts. It is, however, a very achievable project. At present we have 50-60% of the complete body for this version. With a bit of luck and resolve we will be able to source the remaining parts. . The Sd.Kfz.223 Ausf. A chassis we are planning to include in our next restoration schedule is a 3rd Series Typ 801 chassis. The Fahrgestellnummer (chassis number) is 810 740. This completed chassis rolled off Auto Union’s Werk Horch assembly line in May 1939. Auto Union were still working on this series a year later in May 1940. The armour manufacturer, Gebr. Boehler & Co. A.G. in Austria, only started delivering the armour for the 223s in September 1940. The completion date for this vehicle is therefore no earlier ....
